The little details, made simple—so the only thing left to think about is showing up.
At this time, Gentle Roots Counseling provides secure virtual therapy sessions for clients throughout Michigan. Virtual counseling offers the flexibility to meet from the comfort and privacy of your own space while still receiving high-quality, personalized care.
Yes. Gentle Roots Counseling accepts several major insurance plans. If you have questions about your coverage or benefits, I'd be happy to help you determine whether your insurance is accepted before your first appointment. You can find the full list on the Fees & Payment page.
Most therapy sessions are approximately 50–55 minutes. During our first meeting, we'll discuss your goals, answer any questions you have, and begin developing a plan that feels right for you. This initial intake appointment will last roughly 60 minutes.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, your personal history, your goals, and any questions or concerns you may have. There's no pressure to share everything at once—we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, a life transition, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can provide support, insight, and practical tools to help you move forward. If you're unsure whether counseling is the right fit, a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation is a great place to start.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, I kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments, may be subject to a $50 cancellation fee. This policy helps ensure appointment times remain available for clients who are waiting for care.
